Jack McCoy Pope was born Friday, the 13th of November, 1942, in Nixon Texas, and went to be with the Lord on Monday, the 8th of January, 2024. Jack was a graduate of Stockdale High School where he was a gifted athlete for the Brahmas, particularly in football. His love of football was lifelong, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns play was one of his great joys. Jack had his wild side as well, expressed through his love of fast cars, often sharing stories of his days racing during his youth. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a Sergeant in the 1st Cavalry, followed by assignment to the 2nd Infantry in Korea. After his Army service concluded with an honorable discharge and numerous awards and commendations, Jack continued his education at San Antonio College where he studied forestry and park service management. He would continue his education throughout life, and in later years, would attend the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in business management, which served his lengthy career. Jack had an extensive professional career. He served as Drilling Supervisor at Texas Uranium Operations U.S. Steel in George West Texas, District Manager at Ferrellgas Seguin Texas, and Cased Well Engineer at Geosource Wireline Services Victoria Texas, as well as other management posts throughout Texas. Jack was the youngest of six children, many people still calling him Jackie from his youth. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Robbie (Ma) and Joe Berry Pope, brother Bobby Joe (Judge) Pope, brother Berry (Buddy) Pope, brother Claude Pope, sister Helen Pope Becker, sister Lilian (Sissy) Pope Zimmerman, and son-in-law Dirk Wynne. Jack is survived by his devoted wife Gloria Meyer Pope, stepson Barry Moy and wife Dawn, son Jack Douglas Pope, and daughter Ashley Pope Wynne. Jack was blessed with five grandchildren. Granddaughters Megan Moy, Madison Pope and Ainsley Pope. Grandsons Seth Wynne and wife Amanda, and Jax Wynne. Jack welcomed his first great granddaughter Mila Grace on October 5th, 2023. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend that touched the hearts and lives of everyone he met. May he rest in heavenly peace. Amen
